The Ice Art Industry – Who’s really involved?

I never knew that ice art was a growing popular attraction but I soon found that out when a friend of mine took me to see ice art being made. It was interesting to see the artist start with a block of ice and then by using various tools create whatever the image is in their head. Some off the tools ice artists use are: chainsaws, chisels, handsaws, and a specially made drill called a “die grinder” to which you attach various bits.

I liked the sport of creating ice art so much that I decied to research ice art on the internet. There are so many sites that you can hire to create ice art. Ice art is used for weddings, holiday parties, and corporate functions. There is even a World Ice Art Championship held every year in Fairbanks, Alaska. Thousands of fans flock to see artists from over forty different countries compete in single and multi-block events.

Ice Art is a growing sport full of creative artists who work to produce such beautiful works of art. I am glad that I saw my first exhibition and who knows maybe I will travel to Alaska for next years’ competition.
