About Us
We at Ice Art are delighted to introduce you to our business! As one of New York's oldest and most impressive ice sculpting companies, we provide breath-taking sculptures to the tri-state area's finest hotels and restaurants. Ice Art, Inc. was founded in New York in 1990 by veteran culinary chef Earl Covington. A graduate of Johnson & Wales culinary school, Mr. Covington had worked as the chef for a number of four-star hotels, including the Ritz-Carlton, the Four Seasons, Le Bel Age and the Helmesley Palace. He then turned from fire to ice, using his artistic vision and ice sculpting talent to create award-winning ice sculptures. With the assistance of his partner, Andrea Brown, Covington grew Ice Art into a premier ice sculpting business, with clients ranging from the Russian Tea Room in Manhattan to Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich, CT. With four ice carvers on staff, each sculpture is specifically tailored to complement the client's function. All sculptures are hand-carved to order using crystal clear ice we make at our studio. Specialty items such as roses can be frozen into the ice to enhance the dramatic effect of a sculpture. Ice Art delivers all sculptures as a finished product directly to your freezer. If necessary, we will set-up the sculpture just prior to the beginning of the party. Whether it be a wedding, bar mitzvah, or corporate event, Ice Art can create a stunning sculpture to enhance your next affair!
Ice Art, Inc. can also offer you customized table-top centerpieces in a variety of designs. Each centerpiece comes with a self-contained drip tray and light. You may customize these centerpieces with logos, specialty theme items or specific color schemes to complement an event. Additionally, frozen sorbet sculptures are available with designs ranging from swans, stars, roses, Cinderella's slipper to holiday theme designs (such as a skull for Halloween). Individual sorbet sculptures are perfect for serving sorbet or ice cream, and come with lights that go under each piece.

All of the sculptors at Ice Art, Inc. have extensive experience and training as artists and carvers. In addition to Earl Covington's impressive background as a chef, he has nearly 20 years' experience as an ice sculptor. Since the early 1980's, Earl has continuously improved and expanded his repertoire of sculptures. |
Since founding Ice Art, Inc. in 1990, Mr. Covington has devoted himself to carving full-time. His artistic vision and superior technical ability with the ice combine to produce award-winning sculptures. In 1997, Covington and teammate Alberto Reyes were awarded second place at the World Ice Art Championship competition in Alaska. The competition was invitation-only and earned Covington and Reyes the back-up team position to the 1998 Olympics in Japan. As a member of NICA (National Ice Carvers Association) Earl competes yearly, winning awards at each event. In 1999, using his knowledge of ice and his technical expertise, Earl devised a system whereby Ice Art, Inc. can produce custom-designed ice castles for the Russian Tea Room in Manhattan. These castles are delivered daily to the Tea Room.
